As discussed in our recent post announcing the new D-Day 80 Commemorative clothing designs, we have added the RAF Horsa and USAAF Glider designs to the Classic Military Aircraft clothing range.

The Waco glider was used in the above missions but also saw service in the Far East campaign against Japanese forces.
These two new glider designs are available on all our garments, bags and hats.

We have just added a silver colour scheme 56 Squadron F1 Lightning and a Shackleton MR2 to the embroidered clothing range.
The silver 56 Squadron Lightning complements the existing 5 Squadron and 11 Squadron Lightning F6 clothing designs.
The Shackleton MR2 is in the earlier white colour scheme and complements our Sea Grey Shackleton MR3 aircraft.
The Lightning F1A embroidery is based on the 56 Squadron Firebirds display aircraft that were based at RAF Wattisham in the early 1960s.
The F1A Lightning was a very early development of the aircraft type and featured only missiles with no gun. The focus at the time was rate of climb performance and high speed.
The new Shackleton embroidery is based on the MR2 version and is in a white colour scheme with dark grey upper bodyside.
The Shackleton MR2 development saw the aircraft fitted with an upgraded radar which was housed in a new radome behind the bomb bay doors.
The design depicts the dorsal gun turret. This turret was removed shortly after entering service but I have modelled it in place.
As with all our embroidered clothing, you can easily personalise these designs via the on screen product options.
Choose your own words above and/or below the embroidered aircraft to create a truly unique personalised garment.
Let me know what you think of these new embroidered aircraft!
Cheers for now

Its hard to believe that 40 years ago the Falklands War started following the invasion of two small islands by Argentinian Forces.
I was 14 years old at the time and my first thought was how did the Argentinians get to a Scottish Island with no-one seeing them coming?
In reality, I think a large part of the British public had a geography lesson after reaching for their world atlas to see exactly where the Falkland Islands were!
The Falklands War brought out the best in British Military resolve, ingenuity, bravery and courage.
To commemorate the bravery of the aircrews involved in the conflict, I have created a 40th Anniversary Commemorative design featuring 4 aircraft types that were involved –
The full design features an outline of the Falkland Islands with the number 40 in red (red being symbolic of 40th anniversaries). Below the islands is a side profile of your chosen aircraft.
The 40th Anniversary Commemorative design is available on all of our standard garment items plus a new style backpack –
All 4 of the new Falkland’s War aircraft have been added to the veterans personalised range. Via these products you can create a truly personalised garment to commemorate your veterans service.
Th Falklands War 40th Anniversary design is the latest in our commemorative clothing range. Other designs are available to commemorate –

Hi everyone I hope you have recovered from any Christmas and new year excesses.
Here is a quick update on where we are in respect of new designs, supply issues and potential shows.
First off let’s deal with supply issues and get that topic out of the way.
Mug supply has settled down and once again we are able to get regular deliveries of standard size mugs.
Unfortunately, supply of the larger mighty Mug has been extremely frustrating to the point that I have temporarily withdrawn them from sale. Once I can get regular quality supplies of the large mugs, I will reactivate the option in the web shop.
Wallets and mousemats seem to be becoming more readily available as well.as coasters, although coasters are still proving to be somewhat erratic in availability.
Now onto something a bit more positive – new products and designs!
Following many requests we have added Military Green and Kelly Green polo shirts to the range. The Military Green coloured polo is perfect for our Military Vehicle range and many of our aircraft embroidered designs.
[ux_stack] [ux_image_box img=”77726″]Just before Christmas we added 2 new USAF aircraft designs to the Classic Military Aircraft range – the iconic SR-71 Blackbird and U-2 Dragon Lady.
[ux_stack] [ux_image_box img=”77451″ link=”https://gdmkimages.co.uk/product-category/clothing/aviation-clothing/classic-military-aircraft/sr71-embroidered-clothing/”]On the run up to Christmas we received many persoanlised design requests for F4 Phantoms. [ux_stack] [ux_image_box img=”77142″ link=”https://gdmkimages.co.uk/product-category/clothing/aviation-clothing/classic-military-aircraft/phantom-embroidered-clothing/”]
During the Christmas break, we finalised and added 3 new railway designs to the railway clothing range – the Class 25, Class 31 and Class 33 locomotives.
[ux_stack] [ux_image_box img=”77220″ image_width=”80″ link=”https://gdmkimages.co.uk/product-category/clothing/railway-clothing/class-25-embroidered-clothing/”]I have been refining the Loco Data panel liveries and adding more missing classes and liveries.
They are slowly being added to the site – check out the next blog post for full details!
That’s all for now, so stay safe and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

Following a number of personalised aircraft requests, I have added some new aircraft types and Squadron options to the Classic Military Aircraft clothing range. This update includes the first helicopter – the Apache AH1.
The latest aircraft types added are –
Just recently I have had some great personalised requests including –
In turn, these designs will be recoded with personalisation’s removed and added as Squadron options to these existing aircraft types.
I’m still breaking each aircraft type down into its own single product for each type of clothing. In the meantime, all of the new options can be ordered from the main Personalised Aircraft Clothing Section and selected as an option on the dropdown list.
There you can choose your aircraft type and Squadron and request any personalised wording or new Squadron options.

I have started to add the aircraft types featured in our Desert Storm 30th Anniversary commemorative clothing range to the Classic Military Aircraft clothing range.
You now have the option to buy these iconic aircraft types as both a Desert Storm commemorative garment and a Classic Military Aircraft garment.
If you haven’t seen the CMA range, the design features the aircraft name and service dates. Check them out as there is in excess of 30 aircraft types now!
New Additions include the following types and squadron options –
I did several aircraft types that already existed in the Classic Military Aircraft range in Desert Storm colours for the Commemorative Range.
The following aircraft are now options in the CMA range –
Each aircraft type on the Classic Military Aircraft Range provides an option for you to request the design in new Squadron colours or markings for a small additional charge.
If you would like an aircraft type not currently available then use the products in the Personalised Aviation Clothing range. These product allow you to request new aircraft types and also the provide the facility to personalise your design.
I’m currently finishing off the Victor in Desert Storm colours and a 1960s Camo scheme.
Following these two designs I have the following to work through –
I’m also in the process of overhauling the way the CMA range is presented. Originally, all designs were available under a single product, with each aircraft as a drop-down option.
Following feedback, I am breaking each aircraft type down into separate products grouped together in their own Classic Military Aircraft Category.
This process will take a little while longer, so if you cant find a particular product under the aircraft type category, every aircraft type is available as a drop down option in the personalised aircraft range.
Thanks for reading and please let me know your thoughts on these aircraft clothing designs!

Throughout the Summer of 1940, the skies over Southern England were full of duelling aircraft. The ‘Battle of Britain’ was in full swing. The German air campaign was intended as a prelude to a full invasion of England. Following the fall of France earlier in 1940, German high command saw air superiority as essential before any invasion of England. The Royal Air Force had to be destroyed.
The German war machine was highly experienced and well equipped after gaining useful experience in the Spanish Civil War. On the other hand, much of Britains fighting capability was untested and initially inadequate. The swift fall of Europe and the ensuing retreat, culminating in the Dunkirk evacuations, had left Britain reeling.
Over 400 experienced pilots were lost during the Fall of France leaving an already undermanned and inexperienced Air Force potentially weak and exposed.
The Battle of Britain, was in reality, a series of events and phases over the Summer of 1940. There isn’t a clearly defined start date and the phases, with a couple of noted exceptions, blended into each other.
The Luftwaffe commenced a co-ordinated series of air raids over England in early – mid June 1940 and this is recognised as ‘the start’.
A series of raids on Channel shipping in July and August caused heavy losses to RAF aircraft and crews. The Navy stopped all daylight convoy moves as a result but both sides gained valuable experience.
Early August 1940 saw the launch of Adlerangriff or Eagle Day. This was German High Commands concerted attempt to destroy the RAF in Southern England. The anticipation being it would clear the way for attacking RAF bases further North and heavy bombing raids on economic and strategic targets throughout England.
18th August 1940 became known as The Hardest Day and saw the heaviest losses on both sides.
The main fighter aircraft were the Luftwaffe Messerschmitt ME 109E and the Royal Air Force Hurricane and Spitfire.
Many believe the Spitfire was the main RAF aircraft during the Battle of Britain. In reality the Hawker Hurricane was the backbone of the Royal Air Force at that time. Greater numbers of Spitfires became available as 1940 progressed and did eventually help turn the tide in the Royal Air Forces favour.
In the very early days of the battle, Defiants and Blenheims were used in large numbers but were quickly deemed unsuitable against the potent ME109s and BF110s. Losses of these types were very high in terms of aircrew and aircraft.
Luftwaffe bombers incvluded Heinkel 111s, JU87 Stukas, Dornier DO 17s and Junckers JU88s.
The Royal Air Force remained steadfast against the continuing raids. The task of repelling relentless German waves of experienced aircrew with technically superior aircraft was to become the stuff of legend.
Winston Churchill immortalised the aircrew with his famous speech –

[/ux_image_box]The Few and both ‘Adversary’ designs will be available on all of our standard clothing garments and bags.
The ‘Aircrew’ design is by far the largest and most complex embroidery released by us so far.
It will be available on the back of our Varsity and Fleece jackets.
The Hurricane and Spitfire will be added as options to our extremely popular Classic Military Aircraft range.
If you arent aware, I have a growing range of aircraft types available which depict aircraft and their service dates. The range is extremely popular and the design can be fully personalised with your choice of Squadron colours, aircraft coding and wording.
Just last week I did a repeat order for a Buccaneer Veteran with personalised Red Flag detailing and also a 31 Squadron Tornado GR1 veteran!
The Heinkel HE111 and Messerschitt ME109 designs will be the first non Royal Air Force aircraft types added to the Classic Military Aircraft range.
