What Is An Old Locos Never Die Design?
The t-shirt design features a play on locomotive class nicknames. Almost every class of loco has a nickname – some derogatory, some humurous and some strange!
The t-shirts feature a locomotive drawing, the phrase ‘Old *nickname* Never Die’ with small icons illustrating the nickname.
Examples of Loco Class Nicknames
Most loco classes had at least one nickname, such as –
- Class 08 – Gronk
- Class 20 – Choppers/Bombs
- Class 24/Class 25 – Rats
- Class 31 – Ped/Goyle/Brush 2
- Class 33 – Crompton
- Class 35 – Hymek
- Class 37 – Tractor/Syphon
- Class 40 – Whistlers/Buckets
- Class 42 – Warships
- Class 43 – Flying Bananas/Trams
- Class 44/Class 45/Class 46 – Peaks
- Class 47 – Duff/Spoon/Brush 4
- Class 50 – Hoover/Vac
- Class 52 – Western/Whizzo
- Class 55 – Deltic
- Class 56 – Grid
- Class 57 – Bodysnatcher
- Class 58 – Bone
- Class 60 – Tug
- Class 66 – Shed
- Class 76 – Tommy
